Yesterdays, full of long ago's,

Back when the legs were limber

And I rarely forgot to remember.

Yesterdays, when we were two,

The world was still before us,

Our life each day was new.

Yesterdays, now are gone,

Replaced by memories

That will fade as life goes on.

If we write all of our yesterdays long agoes down, they will take a lot longer to fade from the page.

as long as we can stand on those legs it's been a good day to remember ...

Ribbons of lament in this poem, George. I don't discount those feelings at all and even at age 63 have them myself, so I find this identifiable in every way. My favorite line is: "And I rarely forgot to remember." Very clever that line, very achingly-full of recollection, this poem. ~~ Diana
