Escaping the hum drum
Of a lazy days existence.
Quickening my oars
To the least resistance.
I travel the byways
That a canal can offer.
Seeking a smiling face
That a young mistress may proffer.
A vagabond lost in youth
Of too many trangressions.
Left now to sincerity of word,
That gives an honest impression.
My word is now my bond,
I do not tally with lies.
Deceit is long behind me,
Just as quick as time flies.
