Bread is a symbol of sustenance.

Something that can sustain you.

Can you ever count how many times

You have partaken of same?

No, we take it for granted.

It becomes old hat.

What is a meal without bread?

We are creatures of habit.

Hey, give me a salami on rye,

And hold the mustard, He yelled.

I've heard it over and over,

As I grew from childhood.

O if I could put my thoughts

In a sandwhich, how would it taste?

A bit too spicey I would imagine,

And I wouldn't be far from wrong.

Bread, in many of its forms, sustained life when most people were very hard-working and needed the energy of its carbohydrates every day. Thus, bread has become a habit and a ready source of the sugar we crave for instant energy. Unfortunately, bread is not highly nutritious and for those that lead sedimentary lives, like most of us do now, read contributes to obesity and a number of other associated problems. So, in less you are very physical every day, consider cutting back on bread, pasta, potatoes and all other carbohydrates.

There will be a withdrawal period, but you will get over it. I have.

Like my old friend Jack used to say on every Friday when we got our paycheck. "Guess I'll have to get bread [bred] on my way home." At least he didn't go to a bar.
