There was time as a kid

That I was the fastest

At the hundred yarder.

Trouble now getting to the larder.

There were the dolls

I could dance with

Till the early hours.

Now I'm wilted like a flower.

Those were the days

When youth had its way.

When the piper, pipes now,

Its time to go to bed.

The great realization that everyone feels. I was still a teenager when a guy from the same conference flew by me like a freight train after I left him in the dust at the blocks. In 100 yards, he singularly defeated our entire football team at our disgraceful homecoming. He later went on to play both pro baseball and football in the same season. I don't remember his name, or I'd check to see if he is dead by now… Probably.

We can still run with our memories and dance until dawn (my former partner still does) in our heads remembering when we did and could.

You have a way of expressing remembrance that is enlightening and a sense of humor to match.

Visions of A Skylark Dressed in Black by Aberjhani

“The woman or man who is a poet, or fiction writer, or playwright, or all of these, is engaged constantly in a jazz ballet of vocabularies, passions, genders, histories, perspectives, death, love, and life. The music of revelation announces itself to
