Marching to the drummers beat, Like all good soldiers do. Never missing a step, When the sergeant barks out loud. Hut two three four, Hut two three four, Don't you know You're off to war. Funny when I got in battle, Hut two three four, Was the last thing on my mind; Just keep your head down.

It's a way to get you follow orders and go hut, two, three, four as you march to your death. Fortunately, by World War II, no commander would ever do that. They only wished that you obeyed that command to "keep your head down."

All of my brothers were in different branches of the armed forces. I remember the parades and marches, especially this one: "You had a good home and you left. 'You're right!' "
