Frankly, George, I hope you're right...I have enough food & supplies stocked up for the 3 days that the survivalists say we should have enough for, but after that & the world has gone to pot...? What can we do, but die in the zoo...-e-

Wise words for the unwary. Most remain unaware, totally occupied with their smart cell phones, like ostriches with their heads in the sand. The best preparation is not to panic and to be flexible, because that stash of supplies may be worthless in some situations and priceless in others.

During Hurricane Ike, we were prepared and I had two or three contingent plans, none of which were or are still , foolproof. But so many, when told not to panic, did, and clogged the roadways causing untold cost, misery, and many deaths, including those that burned in a nursing home bus that should've stayed home.

That incident showed me how unprepared we are if we live in cities. But your poem is a call to action and that is good.

The wisdom of one who has known what it's like to have such an enemy to face in times gone by, George. We have known such relative security in our lifetime that we desperately need such a reminder of how fragile life really is - and can be. And just how precious. We shouldn't be complacent. survival skills, knowing what plants to eat, and what parts of animals, making bow and arrow and shoot with them, riding horse, bare hand, stick and sword fighting, building huts and homes with wood, stuff like that, for times that might come. It's on my mind too.

Dear George, I see homeless more and more. When will they come knocking at our door? Asking for shelter but wanting more... Amen my friend! I see it coming but when will it end....

OMG!!! Thinking about stuff like this scares me!
