I climbed a high mountain

And looked down at the clouds.

The air was pure and refreshing,

Giving new life to my soul.

I can see what drives a climber

To get to the highest peak.

Survey what God created

And feel at one with Him.

There is no feeling

That captures you completely

Like the one atop a mountain,

Smelling the rarefied air.

Exhilarating poem indeed! Your imagery made me feel like I was atop a mountain myself.

Love ya,

Jane

Having aspired to a few mountaintops in my life, some real, and some figurative, I tend to agree wholeheartedly that it is "rarefied" there.

to accomplish something others can't is a natural high
that will stay within your heart and soul eternally
peace be with you

Climbing mountain tops can also be an individual, soul-searching climb also, George. I have climbed my mountain so I am personally aware of its quite satisfying phenomenon.
