Within the confines of an aching heart,

Lies the sword buried deep.

It cut with words that penetrate,

Yet leaves no visible scar.

How long will it continue

To hurt the heart it was meant for?

Hopefully time will ease the pain,

And a new beginning will come along.

At one time or another each of us goes through these feelings you describe. I lost a patient that I had since she was a little girl and watched her grow into a well adjusted lady until an accident took her life. My grief was unbearable. It has taken me a long time to be able to look back and remember the good memories of our time together.
