We live in a land of make believe:

A child at play with his or her toys.

Building mountains and tunnels

As our locomotive drives through.

Seldom do we examine the past

Of those we elect to lead us.

No, just get caught up in the same bulll shit

We hear every election, that bright tomorrow.

Can't remember when we had good leaders,

Who did not cower when threatened

Or who stood up for the peoples interests,

Oh, was it that long ago since that happened?

Unfortunately, George, it was that long ago!

Always,

from time immemorial, it seems to be. . . laconic but straight to the point. Cheers, alex

The question is whether we are ready to move into the 21st century or to cling to favorite 18th-century ideals that are much more bull shit when examined closely. For example, some of the founding fathers were proud slaveholders and the Constitution describes slaves as votes for their owners.

If we want to make believe that they were perfect, then we can't progress to a better society. Will just continue to expect make-believe government for and by the rich who buy it.

It hasn't been "that" long, George, but there has been so much bullshit thrown at us it is impossible to see much of the past.
