Death

Passing the portal

Of life's fancy.

Eye's just staring,

As if the dead can see.

 

There amongst the living,

Are the eyes

That long are dead-

Always just staring.

 

Whence this gastly

Pair of eyes,

Caught a glimpse of me,

Death knew me, living.

Your poem implies that death is right there, watching, in our houses just waiting for us to slip up.

I haven't seen him yet. I certainly hope he rings the doorbell so I will know that he is coming. ;-)
