Hammering A Thought

Sometimes I have to hammer A thought into place. It gets a poem going But leaves a lot of space. It is then I have to hammer A stubborn word in place. Once a line is full, it's no bother. I'm a carpenter trying to write.

Hammering words into place can be like putting square pegs in round holes, or at least it's that way for me.

I'd agree. A hammer makes a very poor pen. Unless, of course, you're trying to read dents in wood.
