Seldom can a thought impress
Until I see it at the end.
Too many fake impressions
Wander through my weary mind.
I try to siphon only the best
And leave the rest to be discarded.
If only a poet knew for sure
If it was the best he kept.
Let the reader be the judge
Of what he has presented.
It is the only way for a poet to know;
Was this the best he kept.
