What's left in the bath room

After the smell has gone.

Leaves us to wonder

Is it a title for a song?

After the party is over

And the drunks are safely home.

There amidst the scattered debris,

Lies a sleeping cat, all alone.

I often wondered what animals think

And through it all still love us.

Some how we must be doing something right,

Cause the animals can't be all wrong.

They probably think we're crazy.

I just saw one of the neighbor's many cats streak along the back fence with a dove in its mouth and escape through a hole in the fence. And we feed those poor birds every day.

We may think that we have tame, domesticated cats in the house, but even though we feed them handsomely, they prefer wild, uncooked meat. They probably think that it, “tastes like chicken.”

Next Arrivals by Robin Ouzman Hislop

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
