Now That's A Teacher

I left an apple for the teacher,

But I took a good bite for myself.

The teacher smiled and ate the apple

Without uttering a word about the bite.

Some people know how to be gracious,

And let us feel right at home.

The bite in the apple did not destroy its intent

As a gift to the teacher, who wisely ate it.

Now that's a bite off the old apple that I like. Sounds like swapping spit with her. ;-) That way, she could have your apple and eat it too.

a huge stuff this poem brings to us! Especially its first verse, after which, as I can see, full stop is a very clever sign. Thus, some greater room for thinking the reader could get, I dare to guess. Great job, George. Cheers, alex

what memories this brings, I received my share of apples with a bite gone, and cookies too! children are a delight

I still treasure the pipe cleaner necklace, and wore it all day, and the little tabby beanie baby brought for me when my little tabby madeleine died.

glad you had a teacher who loved her classes!!

WHAT A TEACHER, INDEED! THE TEACHER REALIZED HOW MUCH YOU REALLY WANTED THAT APPLE, BUT INSTEAD GAVE IT TO HER. AND SHE ACCEPTED THE MARRED APPLE AND APPRECIATED IT BECAUSE OF THE SACRIFICE YOU MADE. A 'GIVE AND TAKE' BOND WAS ESTABLISHED. IF ONLY WE ALL COULD BE AS WISE AND ACCEPT IMPERFECTIONS AS THE VERY BEST BEING GIVEN. WELL DONE, GEORGE, AND THANKS FOR SHARING.LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS

Unique and thought-provoking, George. It takes character and honesty to take a bite out of an apple and still have the fortitude to offer it to the teacher. I really like this (although I can unequivocally state that I would never have the "guts" to do that). Thank you for sharing. Love and peace,

Regis
