Lost in the quagmire

Of mistreated thoughts.

Blemished and left to rot,

Like a leaf from a tree.

There it lays to wither away.

Turn to dust and feed the seeds

Of a blown dynasty of yesteryear,

Covered for eternity below the earthen sod.

Who will see it centuries from now?

Can't imagine what they would think.

There is much that lies hidden

Beneath natures old sod.

Yes, thoughts are so fragile that they are easily buried away.

On the other hand, with the new millennia and the texting craze (soon to be replaced with voice messages because they are faster and certainly more literate) that flies immediately to the ethereal "cloud," all thoughts now, are beginning to be collected electronically and massaged by all sorts of good and bad intentions so that we can be analyzed and sold any kind of a bill of goods.

So when you see a kid intently texting his girlfriend his most personal thoughts, a thousand years from now someone searching will find that thought in the cloud and reveal a new version of Romeo and Juliet played out in real time, 2016.

You just can't dust a thought off anymore once it reaches the Internet.

That's so scarey, but our environment is really taking a hit all around.

Next Arrivals by Robin Ouzman Hislop

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
