How many thoughts make up an idea?

Or is an idea one of many thoughts?

Seldom do I ponder when writing,

A thought is there or it isn't.

The shelf of life has many stories

That were placed there years ago.

I remember the bar room fights

That I just watched, while drinking my beer.

I had a good reputation at my bar,

And rarely got into a fist fight.

Having defended myself once,

I knocked the guy cold and it scared me.
