I’ve been on a steamboat,

A canoe and a yacht.

A speed boat gave me thrills

That I think of a lot.

The taste of the salty brine

From the spray in my face,

Is a thrill I’ll never forget

When we won the race.

I have been above the clouds,

Having reached the mountains peak.

That was a piece of heaven

I can see as I speak.

 Adventure is where you are,

Don’t let it slip by.

It can be a piece of cheesecake,

The thrill is in your eye.

This is very on point because happiness can be so many damned things. I'm angry about it sometimes - a few too many choices. Simplicity is lovely and dare I say a great choice. Being able to appreciate simple things is a gift to the person who carries it.

We should never pass up adventure when we are young so that when we are old we have the memory of that exhilarating experience that you share with us in this poem.

You made me recall the nights I spent exploring San Francisco until everything closed except a place that resembled Denny's named The Red Roof at 3 am. I would stop for coffee and cherry cheesecake, watching the strange night creatures (actors coming in after their plays that night?) come to frolic. Talk about adventure…

Cheesecake is always a personal thrill for me, though I doubt I can say I have seen much adventure as all I do in life now is sit in my cave and live out whats left of my life...-e-
