The war came along

And interrupted a budding

Romance I was having.

We kept in touch until

The war ended.

With my 300 dollars

Separation pay,

I bought an inexpensive

Engagement ring for my girl.

We went to our local church

And it was there I proposed to her.

She accepted and I placed the ring

On her finger and we set the wedding date.

I was so happy, that it was beyond belief.

The days flew bye until we said our "I Do"

Our marriage produced six children.

Two boys and 4 girls.

She died from heart failure at sixty nine,

 And a great part of me died with her.
