A memory and a poem. Your long good health is a result of not playing football and all those bad habits and joint violence.

I was a sophomore halfback in high school with a fairly good running style. During a scrimmage, I caught a pass from the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage just as our all-conference freshman linebacker hit me midsection and drove me into the ground, numbing me from the waist down. I quit football and joined the cross country team.

Having been an amateur boxer, I always said, I'll stick to boxing, football's to violent.

Some memories are good memories and some give as pain, but those that would stay in our mind will be there forever.
