Our long-term memory stores the most emotional incidents in our lives. There is probably nothing more emotional than the horror of battle. I am fortunate not to have experienced it. Or any other horrifying event that I can recall involving the death of others.
My hats off to you and all veterans who have overcome those memories so well.
