I haven't had the promise of a date

With some good looking lass of late.

Those days are long gone but not forgotten.

Friday night was my date night years ago,

And the trick was to find the right girl.

As luck would have it, I found her, What a gal.

Soon the war came and off I went with the crowd.

More than a few years went bye

Before the war ended and I was back home again.

I got 300 dollars separation pay from the Army

And with it I bought an engagement ring.

Three months later we were married.
