Love poem

Poem Artwork

Our story was born in the breath of love,
That you and I shared in heaven’s choicest hour.
Your breath you filled me with,
My breath I filled you with.
Could this be the moment, when heaven came down on this earth?

Let me fall asleep in its ecstatic heights,
Let me escape into the glory of its light,
For I have yearned with an aching heart,
But with you, I found the heaven on this earth.
The memories, I drift around their smell,
Watching those years afloat across the heathlands,
Feeling their soft sigh, slipping through the grasslands.
At times I wonder, how could the choicest hours,
Slumber for so deep or did they play, unquiet, unruly,
Betwixt the shadow and the light?

Did we part to meet again, as the blissful breath never died,
By the banks of a lulling lake, where once a passion danced in swell.
Thrown into the tide of times, I now smell the sweet rose-briar.
While all things change with season’s turnover,
But thy voice of deeps pulls me back again.
As earth lay quiet, peaceful at night,
Here turns a heart, unquiet and awake,
Tossed by those memories curling by the lake.
Thy smell that hovers back into my breath,
Now rests over the blighted night.
I arise and harken to thy whispers in air,
To seek the flowers of a new- born morn.
