Inspired by the Oscar 2014 celebration song "Clap along if you know....."
....you feel as if there are endless reasons why you can't be happy...there aren't....you can...
Poem and sketch by Isabella Koldras
If you are happy and you know
clap your hands...So does go
Nursery's jolly old lullaby song.
From nature's work in progress baby cot
to Oscar night ceremony smooth tongue
trust visions precious feeling that
you've got.
Even if not all de bene esse* entirely match
fantasy hopes, modicum scrap's well within your reach.
Simply choice to nourish and nurture a
battered
boats welcome kiss returning favor on
great heights
falling to ground withered with furious
lapping tides
delves into faith to pour oil on
troubled water.
Where time and tide wait for no man
dwelling on past draws in sand a line
either the breeze blows it overwhelm
or waters wild current takes the helm.
Valid dreams magic now on offer to seize
a stroke of sudden luck entering your choice.
In face of seemingly adverse lead
and quite a few doubts that you might
heed
whatever frail happiness you'd've left
turn into a self-fulfilling quest.
Ascend seer vision from a cot daring spin
to long overdue magical Oscar win.
Clap.....
HAPPINESS...FOR ME, HAS BEEN STRETCHED TO ITS MAX AND THERE IS NO MORE. THUS, MY PHILOSOPHY; I BELIEVE HAPPINESS AND JOY ARE TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. I KNOW THIS ROUSING SONG AND HAVE SUNG IT MANY TIMES, HOWEVER, IN MY MIND I ALWAYS REPLACE THE WORD HAPPY WITH JOYFUL. 'HAPPINESS' IS NOT SOMETHING THAT IS ON EVERYONE'S MENU...BUT 'JOY' IS. HAPPINESS DEPENDS ON 'HAPPENINGS', JOY DEPENDS ON GOD AND GOD ALONE. I CAN PERSONALLY ATTEST THAT I HAVE NOT BEEN HAPPY FOR QUITE SOME TIME, BUT BECAUSE OF 'JOY' FROM ABOVE...I SMILE OFTEN AND AM CONTENT. THIS WAS A THOUGHT PROVOKING WORK FOR ME...THANK YOU FOR SHARING. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...JOYCE * HIS INSPIRATIONS
This is a type of poetry that is difficult for me to grasp, but the Oscar gives it life and the grand ending is the reward you receive as an achievement that stands out above the rest thus the painting of a ladder depicts the climb to get to the top. At least that is how I see it.

Isabella, Happiness can be found anywhere and it is up to all of us to make it happen...each of us must find what makes us happy. No one
else can do it for us. Whether we climb those stairs or stay in the basement. I always enjoy your poetry!
I agree with Jude as I found myself trying to figure out what you were writing about. But the bottom line I believe I have and that is that it's a long way from the crib to fame and very few are lucky enough to make it, even with hard work and perseverance.
No one blends art and poetry with the charm and magic
that you do, dear friend. And no one graces the author's den
stage with more warmth and class. This is a brilliant mix
of all the elements that clearly set you apart. It is such a
pleasure to read and savor. Beautifully rendered!
