Icy Stare Like the barb on a wire The thorn of a rose Tangled webs that conspire Remain purity’s prose. Indecisive at least Be the call of the day But the order indeed Takes back what you say What she heard and then said Be it right, be it true Not a stammering or stutter Just a whisper in lieu Hellatious indeed All inside would agree Not a motive nor care Came from her cold icy stare. The spark was the cause Of the meeting so rare ‘Tho the flame that died quickly Came from her icy cold stare. Laurie B. Ballard Summer 2011
