Did you know I didn't want to

let you go?

There are some things I just can't control;

things like how my heart tenaciously holds

on to hope and it remembers you.

Why does my free will pinge on another s?

They say we all have a choice but how can there

be choice when nobody is listening to my

voice?

I've been angry.

I've been sad.

I've been  freer then I ever had

when I was with you.

There are no more illusions to

fool me, to get lost inside of.

There wont be one more time

I'll watch you carelessly come

and go from my life , breaking my

heart , causing me to cry, leaving with

out a word like goodbye as if to you I

was nothing. But, I want you to know

you were always something to me.

I can't control what your heart convinces

you of. When you're feeling deprived

nothing you're given, nothing you have

could ever be enough.

So how could I ever compete with your

feelings of emptiness?

How could I compete when you felt incomplete?

You could not know me when you are confused.

How could you hold me when you believed you

you had been used?

And I want you to know I didn't want to just

let you go.

I didn't have a choice.

You never heard my voice,

never felt the beat of my heart or

knew the love I have for you.

I couldn't help I wasn't the one you

really wanted.

I can't let your choice be the ghost that

haunts me.

I refuse to be left with the consequences of

your decisions.

What choice did I have when you chose to leave?

Sometimes that it's all for a very good reason

is hard to believe.

I wanted you to be happy but, what about me?

“The only thing a person can ever really do is keep moving forward. Take that big leap forward without hesitation, without once looking back. Simply forget the past and forge toward the future.” ... Remember what you are most grateful for and quickly forget what your not.”

Heartbreaking. To see that the one you love actually loves another. There's no choice but to let them go.

A very personal write not really addressed the poetry reading public. So I cannot comment except to say I see an obsession that needs to be resolved.
