Written for those who are reluctant to allow the world to see them or their accomplishments
Windows are for looking out, not for looking in,
For those who welcome everday and greet it from within.
But there are those who keep them closed and wait for night to fall,
For darkness is their cover, they can't face the light at all.
Each day brings on the same tasks, that were there the day before,
They never seem to get them done, they're all behind that door.
A simple task of fixing, just one room at a time,
Or opening a box of memories that need to say goodbye.
Clothes not worn for several years, from sizes no longer there,
And boxes of who knows what, that they never mean to share.
Lost in a movie or fantasy that they wish would happen to be,
Not wanting to step outside in the light, for fear someone might see.
The lost soul and body of a person left alone,
Could it be a form of protection that they always stay at home?
But it isn't always like this, in the dark they prosper well,
Kidding and joking with others with a mask no one can tell.
A clown has many faces, and he never lets them know,
The sadness in the lonely one that always makes the show.
Can they make a change, before the curtain falls?
Or must they stay behind the door, hoping no one ever calls
Just let a little light in everyday and take a look outside,
It won't get better, ever, if they continue to stay and hide.
If only they would take that step and let the daylight in,
It's possible they could find a way to let the work begin.
Just remember everyday to start life with a grin,
Windows are for looking out, not for looking in.
