A picture of the cabin where I spent the last day with a true love many years agp
There's a picture in my heart of how it used to be
And I waited for the chance to look and go see
The cabin we shared at the top of the Blues
But to my surprise I didn't have a clue.
The grounds that used to look like a park
Overgrown with brush you can see in the dark
The paint on the cabin is weathered and worn
The rope on the swing is partially torn.
The camoflage birdhouses we put in the trees
Are broken so badly they're now homes for bees
Except for the one, bird hotel
Still nailed to the tree, it's doing quite well.
The rust on the metal roof of the home
Shows no one's been there, since he's been gone.
There's no sign of life, you can't see in,
I hold back the tears but no way can I win
I never should have gone to see how it was
I should have remembered in my heart, just because
The beautiful place where we spent our last day
Is now but a memory and there it must stay.
This collection of poetry addresses the nature of time, reflections on the natural world, the difficulty of loss,
