Third
Is it pink, blue, if either, if true
What do you propose we do?
(Pray no one ever sees EPT.)
Eggs over easy, start of the race,
(God?
Were we thinking at all?)
Swim against tide at furious pace.
(We knew before we began
What wild storms between us
Could be stirred.)
Three lives now possible:
Upside down,
Backwards,
Inside out.
It wasn’t just me, wasn’t just you
We both know it takes a “we”
Joining as two that creates a third.
Now, gray, damning anxiety:
(Fear the best, deny the worst.)
A time of joy,
Or incessant worry?
Is it a boy?
(Your fault)
Is it a girl?
(My fault)
Will this third even be allowed
To take its first breath?
Choices we didn’t want to face
(Our fault).

"Third"
Kevin, thank you for sharing your poem
I agree with Helga's review also, and
in addition it was an easy read!
I think it will be alright don't fret!
Take the best of care,
Good luck with the outcome!
