I wrote this poem as a tribute to dogs in puppy mills everywhere.... must not forget the forgotten dogs who are sadly neglected in life
Another day begins and the sun will not shine
Too many dogs barking all queued up in a big line
Loud noises everywhere all inside the dirty tin shed
Sad faces looking back to stare while resting their weary heads
Not a nice place for dogs to call their home
No room to move , no room to jump and roam
Rain drops can fall through the creaky cracks in the wall
Dogs whimpering sadly you can hear the dogs call
These dogs are stuck in a hard wired cage
Many dogs are frightened many in a rage
The scared dogs timidly circle and pace all around
Looking for their food scraps, been thrown on the ground
With no water in their bowl just dirt beneath their feet
Dogs get so hungry, looking for something to eat
Matted dirty fur all twisted in big looped knots
All tangled in large lumps, they smell and start to rot
The weather temperature changes from hot to cold
The young puppys shaking and the mother one’s so old
With no bed at all and no woollen blankets to
They just lay their waiting to be found and rescued
Mean people have opened a large puppy mill
Where dogs are neglected sadly some time’ s killed
All the special dog’s live a life of misery and pain
We need to stop them , never let them do it again
We all can help them by spreading the word
“What , no puppy mill here” you must be absurd
Tell all your good friends and family
Let’s work together to help set them free
It’s people like you and me that show we care
We are there to help them always and ready to share
Our hearts are full of kindness and our gentle love opens up
Together we can make a change, this time we’ve have had enough.
If you want to help these dogs be happy and free
Open your heart always to any possibility
Dreams are great and dare to always dream big
With new legislation and love brings a chance the dogs will live
Remember never buy a puppy from your local pet store
There is more behind the story when you start to explore
A percentage of puppies come from many puppy farms
Where terror has frightened them, where they have been harmed
When you look into the eye’s of dogs you have saved
You know you have rescued the puppies been enslaved
What a good feeling to feel inside and out
Will bring tears of joy , be their voice now and shout
When the time comes to get a new puppy
When you’re the new owner and you feel so lucky
Tell your rescue shelter’s you would like to adopt
To put an end to puppy mills, businesses must be stopped
Then that time will come for you to choose your special friend
They will find you a puppy, and a life companion.
