One day in November when all should be well and often it's not!

Poem Artwork

 One November Day

Thanksgiving dinner, turkey and pie, Ma wants the breast, and Pa wants a thigh

Cranberries for Sis, jellied or whole, Brother likes taters, just hand him the bowl

Grandma likes dressing, cornbread’s the best, throw in the gizzards and mix with the rest

Grandpa likes squash topped with marshmallow fluff, as for me, I can’t stomach the stuff

Eggnog with whiskey the big table swigs, soon they’ll be snockered, and dancing a jig

One day in November when everyone tries, to love one another, without blackening some eyes

No fighting or feuding on Thanksgiving Day, wouldn’t it be nice if it were always that way

The moral is this, if a moral must be, give thanks for your family, you’re from the same tree

(Cindi Walton 2015)

Very appropriate for Thanksgiving. You hit all the hot buttons of Thanksgiving dinner. Contrary to what you wrote, in some families, a day like this when all the relatives get together, spawns some of the biggest fights ever. Never mind, maybe it was weddings, or funerals. ;-)

Eh . . . Actually I am not from the parents who raised me. Sixteen years old I finally asked the question . . . Who is my mother? Where do I come from. They lied to me. I spent two lost decades trying to sort it all out. Through the Internet and a stroke of luck I found out the name of my mother . . . Mary Turnage . . .
