Growing Up’s So Hard

Why did no one tell me

How complex growing up would be?

Lessons of life can be so hard

Shattering your heart into tiny shards

So many mistakes I’ve made along the way

Waking up, not wanting to face another day

Loving someone can be rewarding; or not

Remembering good times, and bad; or forgot

Who can tell me

Why growing up is so tough?

Will I ever reach the stage

When I’ve learnt enough?

So many good times I’ve had along the way

Waking up, eager to face another day

To be loved by someone is essential:

To be held, kissed and feel sensual

Why did no one tell me

How hard growing up would be?

Feeling like a little girl lost

Inside a grown woman’s body

I've been told so many times, "you'll never grow up." I guess I didn't. I can relate, Andrea. Thank you. Love and peace to you. Regis

we never stop learning, but as long as we rely on God and have Him help us through the rough patches, then we have it made! Hang in there, sweetie; I am praying for ya! :)

Will I ever reach the stage
When I’ve learnt enough?

I doubt if any of us will, Andrea, even if we live to be 100.

This is a very good poem. I like the turn, from not wanting to get up to eager to go, this is life. Ups and downs are all a part of it and you have displayed that beautifully in your work.
