Week One - Equation/The Quadrangle

Walking across the quad
is perilous
under the most usual of circumstances,
but especially the first week back
to books and bells and microscopic
inspections by 14-year old mode-o-day editors,
and smooth cheeked masters of melting pubescence.
Acceptance -
Mandates

Antithesis -
Invalidates
The out-of-sync,
atypical pattern
personality who hasn’t found the high-five
or cheek to cheek giggle niche,
runs or rambles zig-zag round lunch tables
watching alliances form and wander
into English class,
decipher mathematical relations
and partake of scientific experimentations
that
they,
the others
often dream about . . . on quiet benches.

My heart murmurs for each complexion
each unripe selfhood
singly  transparent
uniquely fragile, both.
. . . the end of summer calls
. . . a time to muster the grace of patience
a time to hold faithfully, the vision.
Roll up the sleeves
Put on the aprons
Fill the pockets with building blocks,
. . . life vitamins

So,
First week’s return ends on notes
disharmonious
for today
while making our way diagonal,
passing the table under the redwood,
adolescents laughed and
pointed an unseasoned finger,
at Yana, who fought her airy devils
in conversations circling her head.

And I
to define perimeters
that must be understood,
gave one well deserved glare
and watched as pointy indexes curled in on dispassion.
Yana touched my shoulder.

Special Education -
Lessons subjective
Taught

A very good flow of thoughts depicting the dailiness of our lives.

There are always those impressions that remain most vividly in our memories, and you have done a good job, Jeanne Rene' of capturing the looseness and permanence of these occurrences.

Never rest your quill Poet ...

Unity unwavering!

Jeanne, a beautiful piece of work testifying to your love for your "special" wards and a true dedication to their progress day to day...thank you for sharing a special part of your life, and I hope the rewards are as blessed as your gifts...
