My candle, being thrown by winters winds,
Crackles and bends,
As though it has been blown—never to burn again
Seems as though it was many painful years ago—
It was only yesterday, when
The wind

Yet, tomorrow—the flame,
My candles feverish flame,
Will rise—passionately burning
Amidst the day skies,
And bravely through the nights!
No reason I should labor with the past,
My body will not return to this empty place!
And—
My candle—
My candles flame—
My candles feverish flame—
Will burn
My painful past away....
