(The original was lost and this is a remake of it. This writing is about what someone gives back to you regardless of its equality to what you have given. It is about what they can do, and have done; whether you can appreciate it or not.)
“And … You?”
And, his heart is blue, now—with bright tents over it
His breath hushes, as a newborn … content and sleeping—But,
When he sleeps, his snoring does get a little loud!
First, parts of the ceiling cave in, and
Scare the lazy cat outside; then it’s too late to stuff a sock in it—
You will best be ready with a shoe, but the dog
Runs off with it, while lunging for the lazy cat
It is getting late in the morning, and he still sleeps … like a bear—
A bear, with a sleep disorder
He doesn’t know you have been holding the house together, and
Keeping the dog from killing the lazy cat—as well, the host of
Covetable things you have done—however,
Because he slept, he appreciates it
Involuntarily, of course
Never tell him you saved his life, because
When he is awake, he is your hero
He has slain many offensive dragons, for you,
In his big heart, and he has
Taken the skins of them to the village tanner,
Who has made you dragon imbued majestic things—
Belittled dragon hearts—fashioned into pendants, and
The glistening eyes of dragons, spat upon chains by
The best of jewelers—these chains carry the pendants … lifelong
Pendants fused with candle light—taken from candles,
That will burn forever—just for you
Embers, of the dragon hearts flame, flicker,
And fly away—tethered to them
They will not burn you, yet
They will
Keep your heart warm….
