“My Clementine Tree”

My

clementine

grows, preciously,

in sunlight, soothed

in sensual winds

that dusts its leaves,

and it stands fortified

near the painted cedar

walls of my place

wearily, my mind,

I fall asleep with quiet

cyclic chuckles—sun's heat

turns heavy, as wind's whisper

slithers in vain of serpentines

and intoxicates me

…slept forever and well,

but, heck,

It seems to never

fall onto temptation;

It is strong, and stays

awake pointing to the

thick blue sky—interminably

blushing in sunny beams

and moon's nightly haze

Better made, it seems

hundreds of years, it will

offer fruit and shade; as,

only once, I appear then

fade an ephemeral trifle

of aggravating humility

a recptive leaf broken—loosed

on an ambitious breeze

I may never taste its fruit

many will pass by it's being

and away—it will shuffle

through the seasons making

smiles on the faces of passers

who will eat at its feet

… but, not, me …

Lovely poetry; seems very symbolic to me, and the images awaken the imagination most effectively. Love and peace to you, DA.

It is your tree , maybe having a small part of it isn't important.

Sweet words of beauty, the clementine tree is indeed a delicious tree xo

Beautifuly written with a mournful tone at the end that Jerry may have happened on to. I especially like the ambience created through night and day. Thus the Clementine does become a metaphor for more than just a tree.

Good imagery woven with a substantive message that can be interpreted subjectively; one of poetry's finer aspects IMO. There is much along life's path that humans can reach out for and consume. Not all of it is salutary though. Trees are a marvelous vehicle for metaphor; you've shown that here effectively. Because Clementine's are the smallest of the Mandarins, with a small sweet fruit that lends itself better to quick snacks than canning; the writer seems to me to be drawn to something other than ephemeral sustenance in his life. Subjective. Trees can be a kind of confidant for many, never failing to listen to the most trivial of problems and the most heartfelt pleas. Much could be drawn from this piece. I've drawn a drop. Well done. Peace to you... r

Assuming the Clementine tree is a young tree, maybe just planted and not ready to bear fruit. it is growing into that part of its life. Feel the anguish loud and clear, my friend.

A beautiful and heady concoction of words...
You create a delicious atmosphere
of windswept citrus....
I love it!
