I dwell where shadows fall,
Islands all their own, all alone.
I drink from dank wells,
Quenching neither my thirst,
Nor my sensibilities.
I find my sustenance in the sunsets,
When a silent shadow falls
Like a blanket spread far and wide
Hiding the day away,
Until the dawn,
And sunrise, a sensory overload,
With colors louder than life.
Creatures, large and small,
Take to lofty blue skies,
Scurry across slim branches,
Crawl about the greener grass
Of this new day, choreographed
In time with life’s quiet, ageless rhythms.
And I,
Will still dwell in the shadows
Of deeper wells,
Quelling my thirst, through yet
Another day.

A profound write, Mike. To live in darkness would be sad. The light brings out the best in us.
Love and blessings.
