Daisies Lie

Written for a guy named David Mattice, whom I met at Riverside City College in 1980.

I asked a meadow flower about you It had a white face and a sun-yellow eye. Know what I discovered, love? Daisies lie.

It said you didn't love me But I know better, don't I? I know the words were on your lips I tell myself not to cry For daisies lie.

I know I saw love for me in your eyes It was a look you could never deny. You love me, You love me not... Oh, but daisies lie! Tell me they lie!

He loves me....he loves me not....he loves me.
