This was written long ago because of my love for the mountains.

Poem Artwork

The roof is a work of art in blue and white.
The walls are of strong aspen, spruce, and pine,
And in through the pine needle windows
Stream golden bands of sunshine.

The floor is carpeted in velvets of green and brown.
The seats are fine wind-polished rocks.
And everyday to hear the Divine Word delivered
Are forest flowers dressed in bright woodland frocks.

The choir is composed of many sweet voices,
Little birds, icy streams, the zephyr breeze,
The golden eagle and the graceful hawk,
The wide blue river and the sentinel trees,
The rustling leaves and the honeybees,
The rain and the wind that sings hymns from high--
For this is God's outdoor church...
His cathedral against the sky.

This is a beauty! I have seen some of the worlds most beautiful church buildings, but none as grand as this.

Indeed. Nowhere are we closer to God than in nature. You've captured exactly how I feel every time I go to Cooper's Rock.

This is beautiful, Penni. Nature always brings me closer to God, and I for one am most grateful for "God's outdoor church." Dawn
