The most wonderful sight in the world is the Eagle. He soars through the sky. Free as the wind, and lonely as the wolf, who cries his mournful cry to the cold moon above. He sees the world unfurl, as he glides on with silent wings. Searching. Searching for what? Is this majestic creature looking for prey, or is he looking upon the world with pleading eyes. For we have taken, and are destroying his land, and the very air through which he glides.
As the Eagle flies, does he see the past. The life that was once free from man’s habitual destruction. Or can he just see the future. The ruin of his land and skies. The creatures of the earth all hiding in constant fear. Yes, fear of man and his powers of destruction, leaving death where once there was life. As he soars does he see the waste left from man’s fire and litter. Knowing that his home could be next.
If the Eagle could talk what would he say? Would his roving eyes tell him what is to be. Would he tell us what he see’s? But lo, the Eagle cannot talk, so he cannot pass on his knowledge of the future and the past. So when you see the Eagle and hear his mournful cry. Watch -Watch and Listen, for this is a sight to be left only in Memories…..
For Man seeks to destroy all that is Beautiful.

A single book, Silent Spring, did more to stop the misuse of DDT than any other medium brought the message to the public and government and the raptors (mother's milk and many other species) were saved from the ravages of man.
May your poem do the same today as our population continually takes away wild habitat from the magnificent eagle.
A further collection of poems, many from years in the Middle East, but also the California San Francisco and Central Coast areas (Santa Cruz, Carmel, Big Sur, Berkeley, etc.).
My book of poetry is being redone by me, I have a beautiful cover designed and the book will have a few more than 200 poems in it. I am going to have it printed on demand here in Canada. When it is done I will let you know when it is done and if anyo
