As a small child you were my hero.
Though our visits were few,
you would light up my life for the short time we had.
Your songs were whispers of I love you's in my ears.
You were the funny man that made me forget the bad, surrounding my world.
Now as a woman, there are no more songs.
Though you still make me laugh, you are unaware of my past.
I find you avoid extreme reality.
Your interests are of only you,
and therefore a hero to me, you are no more.

I surely agree with that final sentence, Theresa...
and I have great empathy for you about your past...and greater
admiration for you for having written a book that maybe cleared
some of the air.
Success to you!
