My body
And my mind
Are in accord;
Both are winding down
To conclusion.

While mind measures -
Sums up and
Thinks conclusively -
Body recedes, recoils
From harsh
From effort
From need -
Reclusively.

We'll get there together
Whenever - the end of life
For now
And we both
Will bear the blame
Or share the glory
Of that illusive destination
At that last hour.
Either or which -
It will suffice
For we do not complain.
For it is not of essence,
What is - is this;
That we both have lived
And loved
And sacrificed
For what we thought
Or knew
Was true
And real.

And I'll be there
No matter where
Body or mind
Or both
Take leave of me.
