This is by way of self-examination and is not intended to be a "pointing finger" or bitter judgement. I hope I do not cause offense by my honest thoughts, here!

Credo...


That the world began
and will someday end
in the form that we now know it
That each grain of sand
and whispered breeze
is sustained by the power
of an almighty hand
That conceived in love we only have
our true fulfillment
and discover our purpose
in relationship with you, God
And that you'd still have
laid on this whole show
and died to win me back
even if I was the only person
in the whole wide world

God, I believe in you

Jesus, I believe that you are
the expression of the father's heart
in human form
That you come to undo all the crap
that we fallen beings experience
That you love each person uniquely
and esteem all equally,
regardless of colour or religion,
ability or disfigurement
good or bad
And that with you there is always hope
because salvation depends
on your abundant grace
and not on our own ability to attain

Jesus, like Mary Magdalene,
your grace has won my heart

I once heard someone describe on air
the incredible high of a drug-fuelled blast;
I honestly thought they were speaking about
the amazing experience of
being filled with God's holy spirit!
Spirit, you are awesome
imparting to mere man
almighty power to bring Jesus
into any situation by faith:
we should see more dead men walking!

You are Jesus with us in the here and now
and convince me that our spiritual lives
are everything

Church, I believe that, by enlarge,
we have really cocked things up
and that someday
we shall be called to account:
for all the blocks
we have put in the way
of people finding faith;
of people knowing the truth about God's love;
for becoming totally irrelevant
when God is never-changing
and always "out there";
for being the same Pharisees
who Jesus named as
whited sepulchres and hypocrites

Church, I believe we are failing
to a greater or lesser extent
to get the message across
that God Is Love

People, I believe that
we do not live in a spiritual vacuum
and that much that gets laid
at God's door is not his desire for us
That pain and suffering are not
at his behest
but are the inevitable consequences
of man's selfishness, rebellion
and the ever-present influence of evil
That he gives us freewill as a love offering
in order to extend to us choice
but that the choices we make
have universal effects:
an ordered universe has been created
and laws such as sowing and reaping
are naturally occuring

It is Eastertime again
Here creation groans
in the throes of birthing
the new life
but spiritually we celebrate
the fact that physical death
is not the end
- just a door to a new beginning...

Come, let's open wide our doors
and let Jesus be released
to serve those he came to die for
- that's me and that's you!

And, as for me, whether I live
or whether I die,
it is much the same thing:

Jesus, I know that
we share all of life
together
