In you came to my bright room
where the fire's always alight
and alive in the hearth.
But there was only your Voice
and the feel of winter in the chill air
that was about your clothes,
petals of ice falling off your boots
Slow and disconnected
your speech pattern and rhythm,
eschewing deep thoughts
as of one journeying
through long years in space,
someone submerged
in a huge crevasse,
or lost on some lonely mountain top
Papier mache man,
fragments of endless books
and knowledge
encase you in monotone syllables.
How I long to colour you
in my garden butterfly colours -
but it's your heart
that would be painted first,
from which all others
could flow and bleed...
A wee drop of brandy,
some soul's food
and your laughter suddenly sparkled
like the crackling of a twig in the grate;
There will be a thawing yet
and a spring tide gushing
through frozen veins
* * * *
Like a room closed to all
but dark and dustcovers,
long undisturbed and silent,
a butterfly awakes in the corner
and beats freshly opened wings
against frosted panes...
A time has come
to open up the windows,
take a breath of fresh air

you know that wine critic, whats her name.......I am getting, rosebuds and sandlewood etc etc.......well thats what sprung to mind when I read this.......snippets of him, all thrown together, mainly up tempo with a few sombre flakes.....maybe a slight coldhearted but ready to be woken up....mmm I wonder.
But, once again Kate, this is poetry at its best.
Dear Bill, Just chattin to my muse, here! You know the sort of thing - known him forever and yet he remains largely unknown and unknowable - in that sense, I suppose, dark and dangerous. And in control?! As you yourself know with muses, Bill - no way!!!! But tomorrow, I shall be "Breathing Under Water"... Kate :))))

Kate, you got me! This poem is deeper than my mind can plunge. I feel my thoughts are frozen from reading it. I understand the
butterfly and the relief given in the finale, but the "Spy" seems dark and dangerous to you. Yet you deal with him as if you have known him forever. From the moment you opened there was a sense of
fear in my heart. But you seemed to be more and more in control as the poem went along and I relaxed feeling you were in control. I hope
this completely doesn't miss the mark. Hugs xx Bill
