Walking the hills
unbounded
Treading thread-like paths
myriad upwards
hairline through beating bracken
Wool-bedecked barbed-wire
loosely strung
between pillar and post;
moss-clad tumbled stone:
Boundaries challenged
by time and circumstance;
Possession defied and defined
Wild Welsh ponies stand aloft,
visible only flank-upwards;
breeze-tossed palomino-fringed,
border-crossing
I've found my space now;
Time to head back down,
to shelter within the confines
of age-old thick cottage walls
where freedom from without
is enlarged by sovereignty from within
At peace with the boundaries
that challenge and are broken;
that secure and protect
Oh, how you make me wish I could run through those hills. Just watch out for those flanks.

Oh this is so beautiful, you took me there Kate. Very impressive poem.
Wonderful word play, Kate. So many great lines. I love the "where freedom from without is enlarged by sovreignty from within" idea. The ending is excellent. Nice write!
