Revised ever so slightly and reposted for my good friend Kenny, who departs for a new life in Scandinavia tomorrow! Write soon, Ken! Kate xx

FRUITFUL VINE

Like backlit mime-artists,
our shadow movement continues
as if either side of a film projection screen:

Alice Through The Looking Glass
played out in poetry.

And like Henry's clouds are dragonish
as they fleeting skud and race
everchanging through fathomless skies,
so your influence is upon me;
whether I gaze up or down,
your morphing shadows dance over my earth.

The palms of our souls touch
and press together high five,
while remaining yet divided
by an invisible frosted pain.

We are a fruitful vine that miraculously emerges
from the smallest drop of water
and the finest pinch of silver sand.

Kate,
We poets give life and mind to the illusive, but eternally mysterious soul... the 2nd to last verse here, like no other reference to the soul I've read, brought a kind of excitement... for the first time, I felt as though I was actually peering into one. "the palms of our souls" is an amazing line!

The last verse is sitting inside me... I want to savor it. katy xox

Scandinavia? Woooooooo... my Norwegian/Viking SOUL leapt. (smile)
