THE WRONG SIDE

I'm out of bed but my face
has not yet risen;

Flesh hangs or knots
in all the wrong places,
complaining like
my twisted, restless, sheets.

Frizzled into electrocuted strands,
hair birrs in nests of sweaty dreams.

A boggy brow glowers,
resentful of dawn's
heavy-footed tread.

What anxiety did I sleep on?
Which thought the fist
that smashed the morning's bloom?

Nothing but the needle-pointed hand
of irresistible, unhurried time
has shut down my mind
like an apathetic fan;

Blanking my expression
like a close of business blind.

Boppa, I could do with the ol' Fairy Godmother "Bippity boppety boo" first thing in the mornin, I can tell you to make this Cinderella scrub up to Prince-like standards... just so happens someone's smashed me glass slipper, too, so fraid it's just broken glass all round here today... as usual I am jokin: this is based on an idea thrown up from something I read earlier today! It's actually 1845 UK!! Take everything I write with a pinch of salt... or All Bran, as the case may be... except the early morning horrors! LOL Kate xx

Too much detail here Kate Lol...your preponderant knack for creating stunning imagery with your superb pen, works too well in this piece I fear. However, I must admit, some mornings I look like something thats dropped out of a Baboons bottom...No, I'm not writing about it either...lol.

Superb Kate, I'm sure you scrub up well though, chuck a bit of slap on, and all that...Hey-presto! 'Poetess superb-us'.

LOL! Yes, that first look in the mirror in the morning can be frightful! And the stupor you describe is all too familiar. Ah, its Monday, Kate. Have your coffee(or tea as preference would have it) and greet the day. Hope the rest of it fares better for you...
