RUT OR FURROW?
This on-going stream,
this tension of opposites
that creates the poised, still surface:
Is this my life?
I am either flowing to the ocean
or dammed-up, bottled at source -
so much heavy water
that's just an oil-slick of time.
People, places line my course -
static yet always different.
Faces, buildings morph and change
but all have blueprint hearts,
set to default - like mine.
I must be as the toil-less lily -
not grieve for what can't be
seen or known;
be content to stand, to grow -
thriving where I'm planted;
Knowing that no other is exactly
who I am
where I am
today.
This is the long trip that we all make,
measuring the smallness of our days

You are going to have a hard time choosing which poems
will be in your manuscript, each one is better then the last!
I am sure your teacher is very pleased with the work that you are
producing!
This is a very deep write which has a tremendous message, Kate. I pray that your difficult times pass quickly. Writing is the greatest and most efficient of all therapies, I believe.

Hello, darling people! Just want to quickly say "Now I am feeling awful... you have all been so sweet and kind and shown such concern for my feelings over the past couple of writes, but, honestly, I am fine and I am just writing in my Anne Sexton vein of applied inspiration... yeah, a smattering of personal stuff, but mainly hypothetical. Please don't worry... I'm still here smilin as usual!" :)) But, gee, thanks and all that... I shall surely know for certain where to come if the going gets tough... to the poets who get going!!
