...Not a clue where this came from, but yes: my singing will either make you laugh or cry! :)) K xx

MY SOUL

My soul is hungry;
she sits within me
like a begging bowl,
cupped between cold hands
and sunk into my lap.

She waits for tears from arid eyes,
starves for comforting breath
and the touch of a beating heart.

She longs for soft pressure
of gently caressing fingers
that will shape her lips into a smile
and fill her throat with laughter.

Understanding her needs,
I throw back my head
and sing.

There is so much more depth here than initially meets the eye. What a wonderful, introspective write. Thank you.

(And why have I not been reading you? Oy! Glad to finally stop in.)

It came from the residue of anesthesia;-) Your knack for getting to the nitty gritty of your feelings Kate, and putting it into poetic words is amazing. I think the past couple weeks events made your soul thirsty for song.

How did you read my mind, Kate? Oh this resonates in me--as song bursts forth as a release, a comfort, a wail in the dark and yes joy. Ty for this...Lin x

Kate,
This captures the nature and love of becoming "mother" to
the pieces/fragments of self and embracing them until
the feeling of becoming whole bursts through with a song of joy! Really nice work!
