SILENT STORM

A quiet feather stirs in my soul;
a crimson leaf falls from
shaded parts of my mind
like a spent tear –
coinage of some foreign
emotional currency
whose value is strange
and unknown.

My light intensifies like a beacon,
advance warning of impending storm,
massive sea change,
tectonic shift.
Inner landscape moves imperceptibly
like unexpected foetal quickening.

Four winds gather a pillar
inside of me,
exposing hidden depths;
my thoughts a vacuum,
empty of cognitive thought.

The scent of change hangs
like a billowing veil –
light and suddenly lifted:

electric the storm approaches.

To recognize there is a storm is half of the BATTLE and to know you are not fighting it alone can be very comforting. Your POEM is beautiful I'm not an expert on the subject but, I feel your spirit. Thanks for sharing. Love, Betty Torain

like the sailor in the dougie maclean song, you are ready for the storm, yes, ma'am, you are ready....

Inner storms often have more power, surely as much, as the ones Mother Nature exhibits. And so often with the first tremor as light as a feather...

You are exposing more of your inner life with your poetry, Kate, the spiritual, and doing it with clear imagery that connects. Wonderful writing. ~~Nordette

A poem of wondering, about a quest, a search of known which can actually be unknown, unknown that can be more familiar. A very metaphoric expression of the internal struggle. I liked the etherealized imagery!

I noticed you have your favorite metaphors in this poem
as if you were having to give up some things that you
prized, but you knew were not the best for you...
"Massive sea changes" are sometimes the only way to
beat the storms...Splendid writing Kate!A lot of
contemplation going on! Blessings to you!

Storms don't remain silent for very long, do they Kate? Strong images from onset to the aproaching storm. I like your last three lines. I like "the scent of change" that phrase in particular. I agree with Sherry: grab it and run with it. Good piece of work!

Hop on the blustering wind and ride it like a wild pony, Kate. Let nothing pass through your life that you do not exerience to the fullest; for today never returns and regrets are like quicksand that pulls us down into the depths of darkness, offering little hope for escape...so we wallow in the mire of self-pity for what we missed and dream of how it would have been had we only ridden bareback on the wildest of the winds. Perhaps there is a poem for you in that line..."Riding Bareback On The Wind"...can you write it? It will be the story of your strength while facing adversity. You know that you amaze me, Kate, and I admire your spirit so much. This poem is another glimpse into your soul. Blessings on you, Kate!
Take care,
Sherry

Dear Kate,

We are all moved by the storm and blessed are those who are able to perceive its approach.

Deep intense emotions brewing in this soul rattling write Sweet Kate and I hope the storm is downplayed to a less severe state of being. I have felt this poem myself a time or two though and my experience is that instincts inside our beings are ususally pretty accurate. Just the same a great write with vivid images and feelings showing through with each phrase. Well done my friend.

Hugs,
Pops
