LIMBO

Cosseted in a chair, an adult baby
slumps helplessly unconscious –
drunk on time.

Silently detached in amniotic fluid,
I watch through a membrane,
mentally joining the dots of my life,
mapping a star chart to anchor this dream…

Leaving here, Mother,
will you take me back,
absorbing me inside
from whence I came;

forming together
a new constellation,
Mater Filia,
sign of a far-off closeness
unknown to us while on earth?

Oh..........heartbreaking....I've seen too many of these adult babies who were once mothers, fathers...now reduced to being cared for by inadequate children. :( Powerfully expressed sorror...you are ever in my thoughts, my prayers...

(((HGUS))) and love, Karla.

I am on this same path with my 66-year-old mother. She has a terminal lung disease and is on oxygen 24/7. I am her caretaker. She lives with me. She still performs all of her daily duties and drives. She is very young in mind and spirit. We are like sisters, have been every since I came out of her loving womb. Most of the times I am the mother, though. The mother/daughter bond is a very special one. Blessed Be, Kate

Your writing is brilliant as always. No one has the depth of expression that you do. What I love about your poetry is that you write on many different subjects and your words are always fresh and new. I know this is hard for you because I am going through the same thing. The last stanza says what I couldn't express about my situation. I pray for your stamina. xxxooo Janet

Oh Kate, a powerfully moving, resonate piece. Hope all goes well for you and your mother-- I've walked a similar road multiple times with my 88 year-old mother these last 14 months...
Peace and Blessing be with you, and yours,
Carolyn

Your pain and emotion is so well expressed here. It touched me deeply, yet I cannot find enough words to express my caring. I know your spirit is strong and your faith is stronger. Please remember to take care of YOU too. I'll keep you both in my thoughts and prayers.

Hugs,
Tami

Your poem sounds an empty ache that went straight to my heart and soul, Kate. I hope your mum does well and I will add her to my prayer list. I worry about you also, since I know that the radiation takes its toll on the body and you are constantly on the go, needing to take care of others. It is a testament to your will and to your stand against letting life's inconveniences get in the way of living. Sometimes keeping busy really is the best way to deal with the difficult times. I so admire your spirit, Girlfriend, be well. May the strength of a thousand prayers guide you through these trying and painful times and may God’s blessings rain down on you, your family and your mum.
Love,
Sherry

Peter and Eileen have commented so ably that I could not add any more than an Amen to what they have said. She will be in my prayers also.

Oh Kate, how utterly brilliant and forlorn this sounds,,,BUT we know the Maker of LIGHT who shines in every corner of the darkness and will not ever allow the dark to overcome it. We know the God of second, third fourth, and forever chances. therefore it is true, hope springs eternal, and my hope is in the power of your persuasive indomitiable spirit to overcome the limbo!Yes you can form a new constellation, you know the Maker of constellations!

Very moving and touching composition Kate
There is no place like Home, and no Home like Heaven
When we are in the womb, we are safe and snug in our maternal waters, until cast upon the Shore of Life !
From whence we came, we shall return agin in joy and salutations !
I will continue to pray for you and your Mum's continual recovery and restoration !
God Bless
Peter
